The performance of the stock and bond markets since 2000 has been a stark reminder that markets can be extremely volatile and risky - something most of us have not experienced during our adult lives. The meaning of the phrase "past performance is not necessarily indicative of future performance" has hit home for the baby boom generation.
Story Street works closely with clients to come up with an individual financial plan and investment strategy that takes into account each client's goals and ability and willingness to tolerate risk over a period of time. We do not have a crystal ball that can tell which way markets are headed in the short term nor do we believe that there are specific investments that can provide outsize returns without a commensurate assumption of risk.
Instead, our goal is to provide clients with quality information and efficient and low-cost investment alternatives so that each client can tailor an investment plan that makes sense under the circumstances.
Story Street does not accept commissions for any investments it recommends. We are thus free to locate and recommend the best strategies and investments available for each client. Story Street offers access to institutional-grade funds and investments that are not available to individuals directly. In general, these funds have lower costs and fees than most other funds thus increasing the likelihood of better long-term returns than higher cost alternatives.
Because many of our clients are entrepreneurs, they often remain interested in investing in and participating in the start-up and growth of private companies. We work with clients to identify and evaluate opportunities in this arena from a business and investment perspective.
